Product Managers as CEOs

Shreyas Doshi posted this on Twitter the other day
The Product Manager is not the CEO of the product.

The PM should not ๐ผ๐๐ฉ like they are the CEO.
The PM should however:
1โฃ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ like a CEO
2โฃ๐๐ญ๐๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ like a COO
3โฃ๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง๐ฎ๐ฉ๐๐ก๐ก like a CMO
4โฃ๐ฟ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐๐ง like a CFO
The thread goes on.
This is what makes the PM job incredibly hard.

This is also what makes it incredibly fun.
Wear multiple hats, build a variety of skills, make a profound impact.
All with a service leadership attitude.
Thereโs really no role like it.

Iโve been in similar conversations and I fully agree with these comments.
In my opinion โProduct Manager as CEOโ encapsulates the responsibility of the role in the fewest words.
But also, the term โCEOโ could leave room for the role to be misunderstood as one with simply more authority than responsibility.
